Online applications are invited from Indian citizens for 1,156 posts of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) and equivalent posts under various Uttar Pradesh departments through the Combined Junior Engineer (Mechanical) Mains Examination (PET-2025)/24. Only candidates who appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2025 and hold its score card can apply; they are shortlisted for the Mains examination on their PET-2025 normalised score.

What is the application fee?
There is no application fee. Candidates of the General, OBC, SC and ST categories pay only an online processing fee of Rs. 25. The Mains examination fee is paid later, only by candidates shortlisted for the Mains.
What is the age limit?
The age is counted as on 01/07/2026. The limit is 18 to 40 years for most posts and 21 to 40 years for Technical Assistant (Mechanical) and Assistant District Panchayat Raj Officer (Technical). Relaxation is given as per Uttar Pradesh government rules.

It covers mechanical engineering subjects (65 marks), Computer and IT (15) and General Information about Uttar Pradesh (20).
Is PET-2025 compulsory to apply?
Yes. Only candidates who appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2025 and have its score card issued by the Commission can apply, and they log in with their PET registration number.
