Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 July 2026

Vacancy Bell ("we", "us") operates vacancybell.com to help you discover and track government job vacancies, entrance exams, admit cards, answer keys, and results. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"). By using this site, you agree to the practices described here. A separate section below lists features we're planning but haven't launched — those don't apply to you yet.

To create an account, we collect your email address and/or phone number, and — if you sign in with Google — your name as provided by Google.

Your profile is entirely optional. If you choose to complete it (so we can check job eligibility for you), you may provide: date of birth, gender, reservation category, PwBD status, ex-servicemen status, state, city, pincode, and highest qualification. None of these fields are required to use the site or track jobs — they only unlock the "Am I eligible?" feature.

Notification history. We keep a log of which notifications (in-app, email, WhatsApp) were sent to you and their delivery status, so we can troubleshoot missed alerts and respect your notification preferences.

We do not collect Aadhaar, PAN, payment details, or government ID documents.

  • To create and secure your account, and let you sign in.
  • To send you notifications about jobs/entrance exams you track (in-app, email, and — if you opt in — WhatsApp).
  • To check whether you're eligible for a specific job or entrance exam, if you've completed your profile.
  • To respond to support requests you send us.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not currently show ads on this site — if that changes, see "Planned future changes" below for what that means for you.

We do not send marketing or promotional emails (e.g. newsletters, "check out this new feature") today — the only emails/WhatsApp messages you get from us are about jobs and entrance exams you've chosen to track. If we introduce marketing communications in the future, they will be opt-in and separate from your job-alert preferences, with their own unsubscribe link.

We share limited data with the following service providers, only as needed to run the site:

  • Firebase (Google) — handles Google Sign-In. Google receives the sign-in request directly; we receive your verified email/name back.
  • APITxt — sends SMS one-time passwords for phone-based login. Your phone number is shared with APITxt solely to deliver the OTP.
  • Meta (WhatsApp Cloud API) — if you opt in to WhatsApp notifications, your phone number and the message content are shared with Meta to deliver it. Reply STOP to any WhatsApp message from us to opt out immediately. Meta processes this under its own WhatsApp Privacy Policy, separate from ours.
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (Email Delivery) — sends transactional emails (welcome, notifications) on our behalf.

We do not currently use any analytics or advertising trackers on this site (see "Planned future changes" below). We may disclose data if legally required to do so by a court or government authority.

We're a growing product. The features below are not live yet — nothing here applies to you today — but when we launch any of them, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before turning it on for your account.

  • Analytics. We may add a privacy-respecting analytics tool to understand which pages are useful and fix problems faster. This would collect anonymized usage patterns (pages visited, general device/browser type) — this data would not be sold to anyone.
  • Advertising on this site. We may show ads on this site (e.g. via a third-party ad network like Google AdSense) to keep the site free for job seekers. If we do, the ad provider may use cookies to show relevant ads and measure performance — we will name the provider(s) here and give you a way to opt out of personalized ads where the law requires it, before ads go live.
  • Our own advertising on other platforms. We may run our own promotional campaigns for Vacancy Bell on Google, YouTube, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), and similar platforms to reach more job seekers. To measure how well these campaigns work, we may add tracking pixels or SDKs from these platforms (e.g. Google Ads conversion tracking, Meta Pixel) to our site. These tools tell us aggregate things like "how many people who saw our ad later visited the site" — they do not let us see your personal browsing on other sites, but the platform itself (Google/Meta) processes your visit under its own privacy policy. We'll name the specific tools we use here before turning them on, and where the law requires a cookie-consent banner, we'll add one first.
  • Paid/premium features. If we introduce a paid plan (e.g. priority alerts), we'll use a third-party payment processor to handle your card/UPI details — we will never store your full card number ourselves.
  • Mobile app push notifications. If we launch a mobile app, it will store a device push-notification token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging or similar) so we can alert you about tracked jobs — this token identifies your device, not you personally, and you can revoke it by uninstalling the app or disabling notifications.
  • Browser push notifications. We may add an option to send you browser-based push alerts (via Web Push) for tracked jobs, even without a mobile app. This only activates if you explicitly click "Allow" on your browser's own permission prompt, and you can revoke it anytime from your browser settings.

Our "Am I eligible?" feature automatically compares your profile (age, qualification, category, etc.) against a job or entrance exam's published criteria and shows you a result — this is an automated check, not a human review. It only runs if you've completed your profile, and it only affects what you see on your own screen; it does not decide whether you can apply, and no automated system makes decisions that affect anyone else. The published eligibility criteria always take precedence over our automated check — always verify against the official notification before applying or paying any fee.

Your data is stored on servers we operate, protected by industry-standard access controls. Your session is kept in your browser's local storage as a signed token; clearing your browser data or logging out will remove it from your device. If you sign in from multiple devices, each device keeps its own session token — we don't merge or cross-reference activity between your devices beyond what's needed to keep your account and tracked jobs in sync.

If a data breach happens that's likely to affect your personal data, we will notify the relevant authority as required by the DPDP Act, and let affected users know by email or in-app notice without undue delay, along with what happened and what we're doing about it.

Our own servers are located in India. Some of our service providers — Firebase and WhatsApp Cloud API (both Google/Meta infrastructure), and payment processors we may use in the future — may process or store data on servers outside India as part of their global infrastructure. Where this happens, we rely on these providers' own compliance with applicable data protection standards. We do not transfer your data to any country the Indian government has restricted under the DPDP Act.

We do not currently use tracking or advertising cookies (see "Planned future changes" above regarding ads). We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember your display preferences (like light/dark theme) — this data stays on your device and is not shared with third parties.

We currently don't respond differently to your browser's "Do Not Track" signal, since we don't run any tracking to turn off — if we introduce analytics or ad cookies in the future, we'll revisit this.

Wherever we rely on your consent (for example, WhatsApp or email notifications), you can withdraw it at any time, as easily as you gave it, with no reason required and no penalty — this won't affect the lawfulness of anything we did with your data before you withdrew. Under the DPDP Act, you also have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you — email [email protected] and we'll send you a copy.
  • Correct or update your profile fields (date of birth, category, qualification, address, etc.) anytime from the Profile tab on the site.
  • Withdraw consent for WhatsApp notifications by replying STOP to any WhatsApp message from us, or for email/in-app notifications from the Notifications tab under your profile.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data (see below).

Account deletion is currently handled by our support team on request — email [email protected] from your registered email or phone number, and we will delete your account and personal data within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain records by law.

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. Notification logs and closed job/entrance exam listings older than 90 days are automatically purged from our systems. If you request account deletion, we remove your personal data except where retention is required for legal or security purposes.

This site is intended for job seekers aged 18 and above, consistent with the minimum age for most government recruitment. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

For questions about this policy or your data, email us at [email protected].

Grievance Officer (DPDP Act, 2023): if you have a complaint about how we've handled your personal data, write to the same address — [email protected] — marked "Attn: Grievance Officer". We aim to acknowledge grievances within 7 days and resolve them as quickly as we reasonably can.

We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. For material changes (like a new data use or a new third party), we'll highlight what changed at the top of this page rather than silently editing the text below.
